L’assimilazione a Dio in Alessandro di Afrodisia

This essay aims to show how Alexander of Aphrodisias uses the notion of “assimilation to God”, presented by Plato in the Theaetetus and codified during the subsequent platonic tradition, in relation to some fundamental issues of his philosophical system. This notion will turn out to be a key aspect of his thought, both in terms of his theological-cosmological and moral reflection, and in relation to his idea of providence which joins these two types of reflection.
